After months of admiring and googling the place, Gili islands, i have finally arrived there. Located just North-west coast of Lombok main island, Gili is a perfect beach getaway for anyone who likes quiet and beautiful crystal clear blue water. The only transport to Gili islands is by boat from Lombok or Bali. Gili islands consists of 3 islands - Gili Air, Gili Meno and the most populous one, Gili Trawangan. Gili Trawangan is the busiest island among the 3. We chose Gili Trawangan due to its ample water activities and recreation facilities. The beach at Gili Trawangan may not be as quiet as compared to Gili Air and Meno but it still consider one of the few best beach islands in South East Asia.

Another surprising discovery we made was that on Gili islands, you don't find a single motorized vehicles or bike. That's probably one of the secrets why the island looks so fresh and natural. The only transport on the island is horse carriage so be careful what you might step on when you are walking especially in the dark. Try to avoid visiting Gili islands during July and August as it is their Ramadan festival so parties are forbidden during the period. At least beers are still on sale
And if you are unlucky like me, we stayed in a budget guesthouse - Ilham Bungalow - which is located next to a Mosque. Morning prayers are played through loud speaker as early as 3 am from the Mosque. It was the worst hotel stay of my entire travel life. Nevertheless, we were rewarded with a incredible beach view and amazing cuisines during the day. I will definitely go back to Gili islands again. The only thing i'm not going to look forward on my next trip is having a loudspeaker playing "wake-up" call throughout the whole morning.
