北京欢迎你 Beijing Part 1

I'm so excited and thrilled to be embarking on another journey to a land so vast filled with diverse landscapes and cultures. It is also now the world 's 2nd biggest economy and population at 1.3 billion and rising. You GUESS IT!! Its China. My 2 weeks backpack trip in China was rather rush but highly enjoyable. We bought a 2 way tickets which, quite frankly, was the foolish thing to do. Nevertheless i would be back to China again. An underrated country which i think is one the best destination on earth.

Photo taking while waiting for flight to Beijing at Singapore Changi Int Airport
6 hours airborne

We took an evening flight from Singapore Changi Airport to Beijing. It was a 6 hour sleepless flight. As we arrived Beijing after midnight, the cold Beijing air just ran through our entire body. The temperature was freezing cold like hell and me and my friend were just mentally screaming for "heater or something". We manage to get a cab which doesn't offer a fix fare for our trip to our hostel like they always do in any developing countries. The cab was 87 yuan which is considerably cheaper than Singapore. We booked our hostel through phone prior to our flight to Beijing which is called Peking Yard Hostel recommended by my cousin.

Arriving at the hostel after midnight. Photo-taking in the middle of a freezing night is no joke but a good experience

The hostel is located in WangZhiMa hutong or street in Zhangzhizhou area. It sit very near to the Beijing metro and right in the heart of Zhangzhizhou food street. We were shown to our 6-person dorm when we arrived by the hostel staff. It's pretty cramp but is simple and clean for a 90 yuan room. I particularly like the hostel lounge very much because of its tidiness, comfort and well-designed concept which makes you feel like you don't want to leave the place. The lounge space is quite constraint but is still spacious enough to move around with ease.

Our room (left photo) consists of 2 bunk beds and 2 beds in the attic. Hostel lounge and cafe(right photo)

Me and a hostel staff. She reminds me of a Singapore news anchor from Channel 8

Breakfast for Champions. (60 yuan total)

Main street of ZhangZhiZhou Area. The whole street is filled with many eateries.
